Complete guide for creating interactive prototypes with Figma Make while maintaining SDX Design System compliance.

What is Figma Make?

Figma Make is an AI-powered prototyping tool that transforms Figma designs or text prompts into interactive prototypes with behaviors, states, and navigation—all through natural language.
What can or can't Figma help me with?

What it cannot do:

  • Understand customer needs, pain points, or contexts
  • Identify problems worth solving or generate innovative solutions
  • Make strategic design decisions or evaluate what's better for users
  • Replace user research, problem definition, or conceptual work

What Figma Make is good for (after you've done the conceptual work):

  • Making your ideas tangible through interactive prototypes
  • Rapidly exploring variations and testing hypotheses
  • Validating user flows with realistic prototypes
  • Communicating designs to stakeholders and developers

Key Principle

AI is not doing your work of Human-Centered Design Thinking.
Figma Make (and AI tools in general) are not meant for doing human-centered design thinking. You do the human centered, strategic design work by understanding customers to innovate — Figma Make accelerates execution and make your solutions testable to validate them faster and figure out what to build. It's a tool in your hands, not a replacement for your expertise.

The workflow is always: Human insight → AI execution → Human evaluation → Repeat
